Me: *Checks email
Email: Boss sent virtual team meeting link
Me: Crap! Why is the type so small on these? Where’s the date? I need the date!
Me: *Begins to sweat
I don’t know what it is about virtual meetings that make me ridiculously anxious. Well, I do know. It’s because of my terrible short-term memory due to having ADHD. Also, these meetings disrupt my routine. Routine is everything to me. I get angry and irritable when I have to rearrange my day.
Surprisingly, I have only missed two so far out of about one hundred—I may or may not be exaggerating. Luckily, I have fantastic work friends that remind me to jump on if they see I’m not on the meet.
Recently, I realized the meets can be added directly to my Google calendar, which is great because it sends me a reminder. However, I can’t say that I’m always at the right place and right time when I receive the reminder—I may or may not have listened to meetings on speakerphone while driving. Like I said, my brain just follows it’s routine! Thank God we can keep our screen off!
I wonder if these meets bother anyone else with ADHD as much as they bother me? And don’t even get me started on newsletters and bulletins…
Keep It Squirrely,
Daynah
